M16, the Eagle Nebula is a diffuse emission nebula M17, the Omega or Swan Nebula is an H II region, both sit at about 5700 light-years and while there are many objects in this field of view, they are the center point of this image. Other objects are NGC 6604, IC 4701, Sh2-47, Sh2-48, Sh2-53, Sh2-54 and way up in the upper left is the PLN 16.1.1. . . |
